Peut candidater toute personne physique majeure, sans restriction de nationalité, de lieu de résidence ou d'âge, exerçant une activité de journaliste, photographe documentaire ou photojournaliste, ou écrivain. La possession d'une carte de presse n'est pas requise.
Le jury évaluera chaque candidature suivant plusieurs critères : la singularité de la démarche et l'originalité de l'angle, l'ancrage dans une expérience directe du terrain, l'ambition narrative (faire sentir, comprendre, déplacer le regard), la faisabilité du projet dans les délais impartis, la capacité à travailler en lien avec la rédaction de Kometa.
La revue Kometa décentre le regard de ses lecteurs sur des événements contemporains, qui, s’ils peuvent faire l’objet d’une narration subjective, doivent s’inscrire dans le mouvement d’un monde qui bouge. Le programme Fellows soutient des initiatives d'autrices et d’auteurs de terrain, qui documentent le réel et ne font pas le récit d’événements historiques anciens.
Les formats sont libres : reportage, enquête, photographie, correspondance, essai narratif, projet hybride… Cependant, le projet doit pouvoir être réalisé dans un délai d’un an suivant l’attribution du financement. De plus, un projet très long ne sera publié que partiellement dans la revue. Nous recommandons aux candidats qui en ont la possibilité de lire la revue, ou à défaut de parcourir les sommaires disponibles sur notre site web.
Un projet faisant déjà l’objet d’un engagement contractuel au moment du dépôt n’est pas éligible. Les lauréats seront amenés à signer un contrat d’exclusivité avec Kometa s’ils sont sélectionnés.

Un seul projet par candidat sera étudié. Les candidatures en binôme font l’objet d’une candidature unique (préciser le nom des deux candidats sur le formulaire).
En cas de sélection, le Fellow s’engage à mener à bien le projet présenté dans les délais convenus avec la rédaction, tels que définis dans la convention. Il doit informer la rédaction de Kometa une fois par mois de l'état d'avancement du projet, par tout moyen écrit, et alerter sans délai en cas de difficulté majeure susceptible de compromettre la réalisation ou le calendrier du projet. En parallèle, le Fellow contribuera une fois par mois à La Comète, la newsletter de Kometa, par un élément de terrain de format libre : image commentée, note d'intention, journal de bord, fragment de reportage. Le projet sélectionné sera, une fois finalisé, publié dans Kometa en extrait ou en intégralité, selon les modalités convenues entre la rédaction et le lauréat dans la convention à signer.
Any individual of legal age may apply, regardless of nationality, place of residence or age, provided they work as a journalist, documentary photographer, photojournalist or writer. A press card is not required.
The jury will assess each application according to a number of criteria: the uniqueness of the approach and the originality of the angle; how firmly it is rooted in first-hand experience in the field; the narrative ambition (to evoke emotion, foster understanding and shift perspectives); the feasibility of the project within the specified timeframe; and the ability to work in collaboration with the Kometa editorial team.
Kometa magazine shifts its readers’ focus to contemporary events which, whilst they may be the subject of subjective narratives, must be situated within the broader context of a changing world. The Fellows programme supports initiatives by writers working on the ground, who document reality rather than recounting historical events of the past.
There are no restrictions on format: reporting, investigative journalism, photography, correspondence, narrative essays, hybrid projects, etc. However, the project must be capable of being completed within one year of the funding being awarded. Furthermore, very long projects will only be published in part in the journal. We recommend that applicants, where possible, read the magazine or, failing that, browse the contents available on our website.
A project that is already subject to a contractual commitment at the time of submission is not eligible. Successful applicants will be required to sign an exclusivity agreement with Kometa.

Only one project per applicant will be considered. Applications submitted by a pair of applicants will be treated as a single application (please state the names of both applicants on the form).
If selected, the Fellow undertakes to complete the proposed project within the timeframe agreed with the editorial team, as set out in the agreement. They must update the Kometa editorial team once a month on the project’s progress, in any written form, and notify them immediately in the event of any major difficulties that could jeopardise the project’s completion or schedule. In parallel, the Fellow will contribute once a month to La Comète, Kometa’s newsletter, with a field report in any format: a commented image, a statement of intent, a logbook, or an excerpt from a report. Once finalised, the selected project will be published in Kometa in part or in full, according to the terms agreed between the editorial team and the winner in the agreement to be signed.
